Interview with DJ Mr. King

I love your podcasts!!
LOL. Thank you!!! Im glad you like them! Its people like you that keep me going every week with them!
Where are you from?Akron, Ohio!!! 330 what up!!

Zodiac sign?
Aries. I think. I never got into horoscopes fa real. My birthday is March 28 so is that right??
Favorite film?
I really don't watch alot of movies unless I want to go to sleep. But I would say any movie with dry humor will do the trick. Old School, Hangover etc. Of course I like classics like Belly, Scarface etc but not all like everybody else be saying. LOL

How long have you been DJing?
I have been DJing for 10 years now. Have loved every moment of it. Started rocking talent shows and house parties in high school then things just kind of took of for me once I got to college (The Ohio State University). I never looked at DJing as a job, just a hobby and passion I happen to be able to make money from. I don't it will ever become a job because its my release and calming mechanism but the day I feel it is, I'll stop.

Favorite producer and why?
My favorite producer would have to be DJ Premier or Swizz Beatz. I like Premier because obviously he brings the DJ side of things to producing. He cuts and scratches on the records he produces are crazy. I think if I drifted off into producing later on in life, he would be someone I studied. Swizz just brings that energy and he's versatile. I love high energy records in the 91-98 BPM for some reason. I been fooling with Swizz since Ruff Ryders days. LOL.

Tell me about you podcasts and what's the link?
Man!! The Mixshow Podcasts was just something that I started really for my core group of friends in the city. I used to drop ALOT of mixtapes. But with everybody wanting to be a "DJ"  or the general consumer having access to the same unreleased music as the DJs it kinda became pointless to keep droppin mixtapes because you always have the one asshole who you give a tape to on Friday and says, "Man this shit old I heard this record on Wednesday". So I kinda steered away from mixtapes unless they were artist driving tapes and challenged myself to just do these mixes. I  took the rebel route and made it like a radio show. My style inst fit for radio as several PDs have told me. They say "I'm hardheaded" (pause). So I took that and ran with it. Every week I do want I WANT, say what I WANT, and get people to buy into it.

Honestly I didn't think it would take off like this, but since I launched the Mobile App in June, we get about 10-15,000 people rocking every week from across the GLOBE! When I say I'm truly humbled, that's an understatement. Like I said, I do it every week because the demand is there. When people wake up every Thursday and tweet me like "Where the Podcast at this week" I know I have something good going.
